Procedures

Today, Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) face a difficult challenge: dealing with growing traffic in ever more complex airspace and managing peak demands without restricting the flow of traffic or compromising safety.

We have 40 years' experience of ATS operations ranging from major international airports like Heathrow to key regional hubs, military ranges and specialist operations such as oil fields.

We bring it all to bear helping our clients devise safe, efficient, good value procedures. From Tower, en route and radar services through to fuel burn and noise issues, we understand this complex environment and know how to run it not only smoothly, but in a way that adds value to your business.

ANSPs need to consider some or all of these issues:

  • Overcoming airspace capacity constraints
  • Optimising civil and military airspace and operations
  • Minimising the imposition of traffic flow restrictions
  • Planning for new procedures and changes in airspace
  • Implementing paperless systems
  • Dealing with shortages of skilled staff
  • Coping with peak demands and sector overloading

In our role supporting the leading airports in the UK and internationally, we have developed tools, systems and technologies that help our ANSP customers optimise the use of their airspace. Examples of this include our real-time simulation facilities that provide successful design and extensive testing of new airspace models, our flow management suite of tools that reduces delays and optimises performance in an operational environment, and our electronic flight data solutions that enable our customers to share real-time flight information more effectively.

We've also developed solutions that optimise information flow and promote collaborative working to deliver increased efficiency and environmental benefits. Such a system is already live at Heathrow and it's providing significant environmental improvement and major operational benefit.

Infrastructure Planning and Development

As traffic continues to grow, airport operators and developers face a challenge: how do you develop your infrastructure to maximise capacity whilst keeping it safe and smooth running?

Detailed planning is essential. The key is to fully appreciate the implications of developing the airport, whether it's a new or extended runway, a new control tower, upgrading or replacing equipment, or building new terminal facilities.

Time and effort invested in the planning phase is a key factor for successful implementation. We can lead the definition of new operational concepts, perform feasibility studies, run sophisticated modelling using simulations and ultimately develop the master plan for your project.

NATS Services is a major buyer of ATC equipment and has strong supply chain partnerships so we can deliver excellent value to you. We can take on the role of turnkey prime contractor for your airport environment, able to specify and supply all your technology and equipment requirements.

Newcastle’s new tower

The tower we designed and built at Newcastle was ahead of time and under budget.

Just ask how.
