NATS Services, the commercial business of the NATS group, works with airports, air navigation service providers and other customers from around the world to address their toughest challenges.Some examples include setting up a US subsidiary, NATS (USA) Inc., to address NextGen challenges with the FAA, and a joint venture in Spain, ferroNATs, to provide air traffic services at airports.We first gain a thorough understanding of your environment and then design, implement and manage solutions that are safe, efficient and economic. We are perhaps best known for delivering market leading levels of air traffic capacity at Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

NATS (En Route) plc

NATS Services' sister company NERL is best known for its 'en route' air traffic control business which is operated under a licence issued by the Secretary of State for Transport and economically and safety regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). This part of the business is managed separately from NATS Services to best service this contract.

The terms of the licence, available in full on the CAA website, require NERL to be capable of meeting on a continuous basis any reasonable level of demand. NERL is charged with permitting access to airspace on the part of all users, whilst making the most efficient use of airspace.
